New Year, New Website?
If you're like me, you're probably a little sad the holidays are over, but you're excited about the new year, getting back into your normal routine, and planning out your goals for 2010. If you're sulking in depression about the thought of one more in year living life as you know it...well, that's for another time...I'm sorry.
A new year is great time to evaluate many aspects of your church, non-profit, or small business including it's web-presence. Take some time to think about the last 12 months as they relate to your website using the subjects below.
- Traffic - We're not talking about rush hour here, we know your opinion on that one. We're talking about your website traffic. Hopefully you're using Google Analytics or some other tool to measure your site's visitors. Understanding how people are finding your site and what they're looking at is important to a viable web-presence. And, your total number of visitors is a good indication of the diretion your site is heading. Did your traffic increase during 2009, decrease, or stay about the same?
- Contacts - How many new contacts did you make in 2009 through your website? This could be difficult to get an exact number for, but try to think about how many people contacted you directly through your site with your contact form and how many people mentioned finding you through your website. If your site is generating little or no new interest in your church, non-profit, or small business, then it's just taking up space.
- Updates - This one's for you. How many times did you update your website during 2009? This could include new text, blogging, pictures, video, or any other content intended for the end user. New content is important for your search engine rank and to keep visitors coming back to your site. You should be updating your site weekly at a minimum.
Your website has never been more important than it is right now. The world is going to the web for church, community, goods, and services. If your site did not perform well in 2009, make 2010 the year you take your web-presence seriously and contact us today.
